Location:
Boliqueime is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Loulé, with 46.21 km² of area.

Boliqueime has emerged where water eyes are found. The toponym "Boliqueime" derives from the Italian "bulicame" meaning "thermal source", and the creation of this village linked to the Genoese, Venetian and Sicilians who, in the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries, demanded the Algarve coast for tuna and whale fishing and went to the Water Eyes (i.e. Boliqueime) carry the indispensable drinking water.
Obviously the suffix Portuguese "-queime" replaced the fake Italian suffix "-cam", asim expressing the sense of the adjective "thermal".

This name, which pleased its naturals, has been adopted by the popular people and has stayed in the village since Boliqueime has "shifted" to where it is currently deployed.

Culture and Leisure:
As a curiosity, the story that was in the parish that D. João I had the first experiences of sugarcane plantation. Affected by the earthquake of 1755 the mother church of Boliqueime had to be rebuilt, being currently one of the tourist attractions in Boliqueime, followed by the museum and the Church of St. Faustino, saint to whom the population dedicates a feast and great devotion to this being nicknamed the lawyer of the broken.

The excellence of the landscape and the superior reception of its people are also strong attractions for nationals and foreigners who by far visit and choose it for residence. The values of rurality characterize the parish of Boliqueime, which lives fundamentally from the agriculture of dry and watering, in addition to the trade that is located near the urban cluster and in the Fountain of Boliqueime and extends equally along the E.N. 125.

Some traditions are also alive in the parish, such as the fairs of August 4 and October 17, the party in honor of Our Lady of Pains, São Luís and São Sebastião, in September and the feast of São Faustino, on Easter Sunday. Of the most recent tradition, in mid-June, the popular feasts of St. John take place in the hall of the Mother Church.

There are also walking tours through the landscapes of the parish, from which you can glimpse the sea, old windmills, water wells, viewpoints, clear and crystal clear water streams and the most varied vegetation.
